Takagi's Premium Series saws are designed to deliver top results. They have therefore chosen very high-quality tool steel, which is also elaborately processed. To reduce friction, the blades of these saws are very precisely ground and thoroughly polished. The result is an exceptionally smooth cutting experience, even for Japanese saws.
This exceptional set consists of two of our best saws; the Takagi Premium Dozuki 225 and the Takagi Premium Ryoba 180.
Takagi Premium Dozuki 225
The extra fine teeth (24 TPI) of this Takagi Premium Dozuki 250 have been designed with great care and ground very precisely. The cut of this exceptional saw is only 0.40 mm wide and is ideal for the finest cuts and precision work.
Use this saw for very clean cuts in furniture making, restoration work, interior finishing and other fine sawing work.
The 225 mm saw blade of this Dozuki is conically ground. The thickness of the saw blade is therefore less than the thickness of the cutting surface even before the teeth are set. This prevents the saw blade from getting stuck in the wood.
Takagi Premium Ryoba 180
The teeth of this Takagi Premium Ryoba 180 have been carefully designed and sharpened on two sides. This makes this saw very versatile.
Use the side with the trapezoidal toothing (17 TPI) for general or mitre work where a clean cut (0.70 mm wide) is important. Ideally suited for furniture making, interior finishing and finer general sawing work.
The other side has ascending teeth, from 8 to 10 TPI, for sawing in the longitudinal direction of the wood. This toothing method simplifies the start of the cut and cuts more efficiently when sawing.
The saw blade is hollow ground. The thickness of the saw blade is therefore less than the thickness of the cutting surface, even if the teeth have not yet been set. The saw blade therefore does not get stuck in the wood.
The handle of these saws is made of balsa wood, partly wrapped with bamboo. Balsa wood is a very light type of wood that feels very light in the hand. It also wicks away moisture better than bamboo handles....
The teeth of these saws can be sharpened with a Japanese saw file.
